The Olympia Loft project faced several challenges, including the need to add additional spaces for the clients' growing family, improve overall living quality, and work within the constraints of the existing structure. By reducing the amount of roof extension proposed to a minimum, the design team was able to gain maximum use of the new space generated. The two new internal levels are visually connected through double heights and mutual views, creating a sense of openness and flow. Remodeling the windows and skylights on the front wall and roof maximized natural light and ventilation, enhancing the living experience.
The result is a stunning two-bedroom apartment with an open plan for the living areas. The master bedroom, located on the balcony above, overlooks the living space below through a full-width internal glazing. The white surfaces diffuse the natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere, while the exposed bricks reveal the terraced nature of the house.
The Olympia Loft's design was realized through a collaborative process with the clients, ensuring their expectations, ideas, and dreams were incorporated into the final product. The project was completed within 18 weeks, with careful attention to optimizing the kitchen layout, creating sufficient storage space, and maximizing headroom in the ensuite bathroom.
This design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. The Olympia Loft is a testament to the power of innovative design to transform and enhance living spaces, making them more functional, visually appealing, and enjoyable.
